PEABODY UNION

NASHVILLE, TN

In addition to open-air pedestrian spaces, the $285 million Peabody Union Development is made up of several new buildings housing class-A office, residential, restaurant, relaxation, and retail spaces totaling 755,000 square feet.

PROJECT INFORMATION

The Peabody Union development is a 4.5 acre mixed-use community neighborhood in Nashville Tennessee’s South Bank District. Peabody Union is comprised of several newly constructed buildings including 50,000 square feet of retail space, 250,000 square feet of office space, and 455,000 square feet of residential space in a luxury high-rise tower overlooking the Cumberland River. An additional 132,000 square feet of space has also been added in between the four prominent buildings with greenways, leisure seating, and walking paths. Drawing inspiration from the adjacent historic Trolley Barns, Hastings Architecture designed the Peabody Union sight to be a contemporary interpretation of the historic area with similar open-air geographical pedestrian spaces, urban streetscapes, and industrial-inspired modern materials like steel and dark copper anodized aluminum.

SURFACES PROJECT SCOPE

Our team worked with Turner Construction to fabricate and install the enclosure systems on each of the buildings for the Peabody Union Development. The main residential tower, retail storefronts, and office spaces feature nearly 175,000 square feet of Fairview’s Vitrabond aluminum composite metal rainscreen panels in custom matched Focus Black finish and a maroon-colored finish called Almandine Garnet. Vitrabond panels were also installed on one of the inside staircase canopies in an anodized Brilliant Mirror finish. Our team fabricated and installed metal from Pure + Freeform including 5,000 square feet of box ribbed corrugated panels in their Hollywood finish, and an additional 4,000 square feet of our own S-Slip panel system in their Frozen Titanium finish for the paneling on the canopy roof. The rooftop mechanical areas are clad in 12,000 square feet of screens are made from Metal Sales T-10B metal wall panels in a Focus Black finish. The last bit of metal work our team completed was for the tower’s interior lobby area desk which is clad with 1,000 square feet of perforated steel plate panel system in a custom Peabody finish created specifically for the owner.

GLASS & GLAZING PROJECT SCOPE

Our glass and glazing teams installed nearly 65,000 square feet of Oldcastle’s Reliance and Reliance Cassette glazed curtain wall systems with Guardian Glass’ SN68 and SNR35 insulated glass. Old Castle’s FG-6000 system was also used for the exterior glazed storefront. 85,600 square feet of this aluminum glazed storefront was installed by our team with Guardian Glass’ SN68 ultra-clear insulated glass. To match the storefront and curtainwall systems, over 660 Oldcastle Signature Series 3375 & SGHT operable windows were installed along with 325 leaves of glass for all of the sliding entrances, standard doors, and residential terrace doors. Nearly 30,000 square feet of our own unitized curtain wall system was also fabricated and installed by our team for the residential tower. CS Louvers provided their RS-23000, 2” deep storm-resistant louvers which featured a black painted finish to match the aluminum framing on the glass and glazing systems.
