Williston Basin International Airport has been named 2020’s Project of the Year by Airport Business Magazine
MG McGrath provided, fabricated, and installed both interior and exterior metal panel systems for the new airport including rainscreen panels, corrugated panels, trim, fin tube covers, and a complicated overhang design with a 5-step soffit and fascia configuration that included parallelogram shaped panels for the sloped facia. The finish colors on the exterior façade are a nod to the stratified limestone in the nearby Missouri River, and the region’s industrial mining sectors. The interior was meant to reflect the nearby Bandlands National Park by mimicking the same limestone style color, canyon horizon, and rolling prairie grasses. Metal was a great option to achieve the look of limestone without having its heavy weight and environmental impact.
