APPLE VALLEY TRANSIT STATION

APPLE VALLEY, MN

The Apple Valley Transit Station is the Twin City Metro area’s biggest park-and-ride facility, but a recent surge in population growth has given way for the construction of more parking spots and modern updates

PROJECT INFORMATION

The Apple Valley Transit Authority finished work modernizing their transit station parking ramp after five years of expansion planning. The Apple Valley Transit Station was first built in 2010 and is the largest park-and-ride facility in the Twin City Metro area. The station was running out of spaces for its riders, and a recent surge in population growth prompted the transit authority to begin expansion and renovation construction. $8.4 million had been set aside for this project which included funding for the construction of two new levels to the parking ramp adding 378 parking spaces, more security cameras, elevators and accessibility improvements, energy-efficient LED lighting, and a modern exterior façade

PROJECT SCOPE

MG McGrath provided and installed 24,750 square feet of Fabral Deep Rib IV vertical metal panels. These .050” panels are both ribbed and perforated with a clear anodized finish. MG McGrath also installed the parking ramp’s 20ga horizontal ribbed metal wall panels from Morin. Over 300 square feet of these panels were installed with a Y-36 exposed fastener system profile and feature a custom 2-coat City Scape finish. An additional 925 square feet of decorative metal panels were fabricated and installed by MG McGrath featuring a swoop contour and a 300M Nickel finish from AaCron Anodizing. MG McGrath worked closely with TKDA Architects and Adolfson & Peterson Construction to make sure material choice and finishes achieve the look, feel, and functionality desired for this new ramp
