Accrediting his father as his mentor, Mike began his career with MG McGrath sweeping warehouse floors at a young age, eventually growing with the family business as an Apprentice, a Journeyman, a Foreman, and then a Project Manager, before assuming his previous post as Vice President of Operations. During that time, Mike earned his Associate’s degree from the Minnesota School of Business and became a member of Sheet Metal Local 10.
Mike P. McGrath is responsible for all aspects of the business. With over 20 years of hands-on experience, he is a transformational leader whose deft understanding of architectural sheet metal applications and high-volume operations have helped grow and develop MG McGrath’s teams and technologies in order to be able to take on bigger and more architecturally complex projects than ever before. With projects in motion from New York to Los Angeles, and in-between, Mike works closely with architects, contractors and clients, armed with the company motto “bringing ideas to life.” Recent accomplishments include the award-winning Florida Polytechnic University Innovation, Science and Technology Building (FL), Pinnacle Bank Arena (NE), Mall of America Radisson Blu Hotel (MN), Mall of America Expansion Phase 1C (MN), Central Corridor and Light Rail Transit (MN), Mayo Clinic Square (MN), Facebook West Campus (CA), CHS Field (MN), Anytime Fitness Headquarters (MN), Speed Art Museum (KY), and the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (CA). Current projects in progress include the U.S. Bank Stadium, the future home of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings and largest construction project in Minnesota history.
Mike is member of Sheet Metal Workers International Association Union Local #10, the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and, partnering with American Institute of Architects, he teaches industry specific continuing education seminars.
