The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) has given One Discovery Square the 2020 National Merit Award in the Industrial, Process, and Research Facilities market category. This project, along with the other merit winners in each market category are now competing for the National Award of Excellence with the winner to be announced later this year. MG McGrath worked closely with Mortenson Construction, HOK Architects, and RSP Architects to complete One Discovery Square, which is the first of several bioscience buildings to be built for the Destination Medical Center subdistrict in Rochester, MN. Our team provided and installed a variety of exterior cladding for One Discovery Square, including our own D-Set style aluminum plate rainscreen panels and over 20,000 square feet of Nichiha fiber cement wall panels in 3 custom colors. DBIA’s Project/Team Awards honor the nations best design-built projects each year. The projects submitted are looked over by a panel of jurors with special attention and consideration given to projects that are diverse, innovative, complex and most of all, impressive.
