PROJECT INFORMATION:

The Kansas Statehouse underwent a 13-year, basement-to-dome renovation that cost nearly $325 million to complete. Carried out by Treanor Architects and JE Dunn Construction, the renovation included updates to the building’s infrastructure, including the $22 million copper roof and dome replacement. The project also included the addition of office space, a visitor center, and an underground parking garage.

PROJECT SCOPE:

MG McGrath worked with the project team to fabricate and install nearly 70,000 square feet of 20-ounce natural smooth copper to replicate the historic roof while preserving its authenticity. The copper roofing systems utilized 35,000 square feet of batten seam roof panels, and 31,000 square feet of double lock seam roof panels.
