

Shaw Contract Group’s Design is Award program honors architecture and design firms that are redefining the direction of design while improving quality of life for occupants. The competition is now in its eighth year, and the jury selected six projects out of 369 entries from 26 countries as winners.

Warm materials, soft accent lighting, and comfortable furniture within this concert hall prove inviting to the community members it serves. The facade comprises red oak slats installed in a pattern inspired by polyrhythm and staccato textures in music. These textures are echoed inside in the floor finishes, pendant lighting, and signage.
MG McGrath’s Scope of Work: MG McGrath fabricated and installed approximately 29,000 square feet of material on the Performing Arts building at Macalester College, including both interior and exterior applications. Materials on the exterior included .040 Flush Seam Panels in black anodized aluminum with varying reveals, MG Composite Panels in black anodized as well as louvers. On the interior, MG McGrath installed perforated rib panels, expanded metal ceilings and composite panels.
