The New York Aquarium underwent a $157 million expansion project, which added a new 57,000 square foot exhibit building to their Brooklyn campus. The exhibit, Ocean Wonders: Sharks, features over 100 species of marine from all over the world to teach visitors about the direct impact of their everyday choices on our oceans. The building also features classroom labs, a restaurant, views of the surrounding beach and ocean, and a “Shimmer Wall” Wind Veil that will cover the perimeter of the building and shimmer with reflections

MG McGrath worked with the project team at the New York Aquarium to fabricate and install the 13,000 square foot aluminum Wind Veil art feature, dubbed the “Shimmer Wall”, that surrounds the new addition. The Wind Veil art is a shimmering veil, comprised of 33,000 aluminum tiles that move with the wind to reflect the ocean and sun, giving visitors an under-the-sea experience

McGrath didn’t just show us what the next steps were, they took them with us. The project came out better than we imagined because they were involved.
