After acquiring 505 Nicollet in 2014, CenterPoint Energy began renovations on the four-story downtown Minneapolis building in order to accommodate the 300+ employees that now occupy the space. After a complete remodel of over 100,000 square feet, the building now features a four-story staircase where there used to be escalators, a new street-level entrance, lobby and reception area, a customer call center, collaborative meeting spaces, management and administrative space and new energy efficient windows.
MG McGrath Architectural Glass & Glazing worked with CenterPoint Energy and the 505 Nicollet project team to remove the building’s existing curtainwall, doors and glass, and installed new 400 series curtainwall from Tubelite. In addition, MG McGrath Architectural Glass & Glazing installed a custom glass canopy at the building’s main entry. The glass canopy, supported by cables and steel has a blue hue to match the CenterPoint Energy logo.
