Hmong College Prep Academy Construction on Schedule
Expansion to Feature Additional Access to Technology
St. Paul, MN-Administrators at Hmong College Prep Academy recently announced that their campus expansion project is running on schedule.
“Things are coming along as planned,” stated HCPA Superintendent Dr. Christianna Hang. “We anticipate the expansion project will be completed sometime in August. We’re very excited to see the reactions of our students as they begin the new school year.”
HCPA is currently housed in a two-story, 76,000 square foot building near the Minnesota State Fair Grounds. The expansion will add an additional 78,000 square feet and include improved access to technology for students.
“The entire school is undergoing a major technological renovation,” stated school Technology Specialist Sonya Zuker-Klimek. “The third floor of the new building will house a lab that will feature 26 high-end computers for graphic arts and design as well as STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) applications. We’re talking very powerful, high-tech stuff here.”
Zuker-Klimek added, “The first floor will feature a 36 station multiple use lab. In addition, we’re upgrading all of our current computer labs and improving technology in each classroom.”
Classroom technology upgrades include the addition of Mimio interactive white boards. Science students will utilize Probeware and Vernier products-two of the most powerful science education platforms in the world. “These two products will provide our science students with an incredible hands-on experience,” stated Zuker-Klimek. “This is a very exciting addition to our curriculum.”
Additional HCPA expansion project upgrades include a state-of-the-art auditorium sound system, new cafeteria for high school and gym for K-8 students. There will also be a number of community spaces for collaborative learning programs.
“So far, the community has been very enthusiastic and supportive our expansion,” stated HCPA Director of Administrative Operations, Pao Yang. “We’ve been giving a lot of tours. In fact, anyone interested in taking a tour is invited to call me personally.”
