Featured by Finance & Commerce as a Top Project of 2016, the goal for the new Anytime Fitness Headquarters was to reinforce Self Esteem Brands’ core ethos of improving people’s lives by creating a place that does that for its own employees. The facility features multiple fitness areas, stunning natural wood walls, a sleek design, great collaboration space, and even a place where employees can get tattooed with their company logo.
Mike McGrath, CEO of MG McGrath Inc., noted Self Esteem Brands CEO Chuck Runyon and his partner, Dave Mortensen, had a “specific” vision and paid close attention even to finishes and patinas for the metal, glass and glazing his firm provided.
“They wanted something to represent their brand and offer a space that their team could enjoy and be proud of,” he said. It’s original and unique.” – Finance & Commerce
MG McGrath’s Architectural Surfaces and Architectural Glass & Glazing teams both worked with Anytime Fitness, D.J. Kranz Co, and BWBR Architects on this project. Our Architectural Surfaces team fabricated and installed over 13,000 square feet of aluminum F-Seam panel on the exterior and interior of the fitness chain’s new office building. On the exterior of the building, we fabricated and installed light, medium, and dark bronze Anodized aluminum panels between windows and at the SE corner of the courtyard, along with charcoal, Sierra tan, and dark bronze anodized flashings and trims. Charcoal H-Seam panels and Centria perforated noble grey aluminum paneling were installed at the rooftop’s mechanical enclosure. On the interior, MG McGrath installed blackened weathering steel panels and custom trims at the fireplace, tattoo parlor, and reception desk, and blackened the two flights of steel stairs between the lower level and the second floor.
In addition to multiple fitness areas, another thing that the new Anytime Fitness corporate office building features a lot of is glass. Working with the fitness chain, BWBR architects, and the project team, MG McGrath Architectural Glass & Glazing installed Kawneer 1600 curtainwall at the building’s main entry, multi-story south-facing radiused curtainwall overlooking the patio and at entry points in two locations on the building. MG McGrath Architectural Glass & Glazing also installed aluminum storefront framing at the punched opening on the first and second floors of the east and west sides of the building, and glass handrails on the exterior of the main floor and second floor patios. On the interior, there is storefront with Dorma glass sliding doors at multiple locations, as well as glass walls and interior glass handrails leading from the Terrace level up to the main floor, and from the main floor to the second floor . All curtainwall, storefront, and door glass systems throughout the facility have a clear anodized finish.
