Metal Construction News recognized two of MG McGrath’s recent projects with their 2016 Building & Roofing Awards – the Mayo Clinic Square (Minneapolis, MN) and the St. Paul Academy and Summit School’s Huss Center for the Performing Arts (St. Paul, MN).
The St. Paul Academy and Summit School’s Huss Center for the Performing Arts project, located in St. Paul, MN, was MCN’s Metal Walls (New Construction) Award Winner of 2016. MG McGrath worked with HGA Architects and McGough Construction Company on the project, fabricating and installing multiple types of aluminum panels to the exterior and interior of the new state-of-the-art facility for musical and theatrical productions.
The Mayo Clinic Square of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, formerly known as Block E, was the winner of the Metal Roofing (Retrofit) category. MG McGrath worked with RSP Architects and Mortenson Construction on interior and exterior of the $50 million redevelopment site, where the world-renown Mayo Clinic partnered with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx teams to open its first sports medicine facility.
Among the many cool features, MG McGrath fabricated and installed larger-than-life Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx graphics on the exterior of the building. Using architect RSP’s design and transferring it to the metal panels of the façade, our team created perforations of varying size, location, and density to create various areas of light and dark to form the images – Approximately 18,000 square feet of anodized aluminum panels, provided by AaCron Anodizing, were utilized on this structure alone!
